Congress successfully protected the first two stimulus payments from wage garnishments and bank fees. However, because the third stimulus has been approved by Budget Resolution, it is -- at this point -- unclear whether the $1400 payments that are expected to roll out later this month will have the same protections.

Unless Congress can act fast, those taxpayers who are overdrawn at their banks, or who have wage garnishments, may see their stimulus checks vanish or get greatly reduced.
